Slàinte takes its name from the famous toast and means “health”, as much in irish as in scottish gaelic.
The formation is born in 1993, and since then it has rolled by numerous scenes as much catalan as of the rest of Spain. Slainte is without a doubt the most veteran group of celtic music in Catalonia and some top musicians have been part of it: Carolyn Petersen (Felpeyu, Tartan Amoebas), Oscar Zanon (Dumbalacanalla), David Lafuente (Joglars e Senglars), Oscar Estanyol (Camalics), Eugeni Gil and Paco Pi (Primera Nota), Simone Lambregts (Les Violines), Raimon Torio, Heather Hayes (Hickory Wind) , or Marc del Pino (Aisha).
Today their repertoire has evolved, but without losing the magic of the acoustic and Atlantic sound that characterizes to them. At the moment it is centered in the most frenetic dances and the most beautiful songs of Hibernia and Caledonia (Ireland and Scotland), but also visits another traditions as the breton, the balkan music or the bluegrass. All flavoured with their original arrangements.
The treatment of the tunes together with the sound of their native instruments gives to the group an authenticity character that is not very usual in our country … Their influences turn around groups like Planxty, Bothy Band, Kornog, Lúnasa, Solas, M.McGoldrick Band, Flook, Solas....
The concert can be combined with an irish step or tap dance show, do it by the prestigious dancers Fran Doonan & Ella King. This dance considers the precursor of modern tap dance.
